i would say (depending on the pet) make sure that their local vet can treat there furry friend. a lot of people don’t realize that for rabbits, for example. require special care. a lot of vets don’t treat rabbits because they are considered exotic pets. this means that the rabbit needs a vet that specializes in rabbits and other small animals. this is a problem i ran into when i got my first rabbit. unfortunately he passed away.

Animals are a mirror for the soul.
Those animals who have been abused, abandoned and beaten often seems less attractive to people looking for an animal to rescue than the fluffy kitten which paws at the cage door.
But there is something nobel and magic about caring for an animal who has been abused. A trust which although may be long in making, once forged will never break.
This is the true wonder of animal adoption, seeing beyond the scars and the broken behaviour and looking into the heart of a creature which with love and patience, will once more know love and friendship.
