@draco3113 what???? i love salad. lol i’d take it over the candy.
@LadyAnglersGlamStyle
I’d fed them that once but they don’t really like it. They perfer the seeds much more.
how do you get parakeets to eat fruit? My parakeets won’t eat any fruit
@LadyAnglersGlamStyle most pet stores are sponsored by food brands and in return they promote that food, the best food you can feed your budgie is anything NATURAL, grains millet and lot of variety in vegetables and fruits but i would suggest a small amount of PLAIN pellets mixed with the grains
I was told by the pet store that ZuPreem FruitBlend Flavor was the best to feed to my parakeet. If I’ve been told wrong I’d sure love to know. Does anyone else feed your parakeet this feed?
@draco3113 i forgot to mention while he is out of the cage he has millet, i find if i leave any seed in there he eats it instead of the healthy stuff…its basiclly the same as putting a bowl of candy and a bowl of salad in front of a child you know its gona pick the candy!
lol i was thinking “what is that puffball doing there?” then i was like ” OH! its a budgie. “
cooked or raw..
Is your dad billy jim
My parakeet eats rice all the time. Infact, it’s more like he’s addicted to it. He’s never had any problems from rice.
suiteangel45: Green is a natural color for budgie droppings. Before it hardens, anyway. My budgies have always had green droppings no matter what I feed them.
My breeder says this is not true, and that all-natural is the way to go.
I believe him because he once had a budgie that lived 28 years, and says he frequently has customers who report budgies that lived to 20+ years by following his recommended diet. He doesn’t even sell most pellet mixes in his shop.
The thing is, he says, regulations on bird foods are much looser than for other pets, and manufacturers have a lot of sway over the research that is published for consumer use.
NO IT MAKEZ A BIRDS STOMACH SWELL…..and then they die..
is dr.harveys good?
i try feeding my new budgie bread, and swiss chard, and also millet, and he wont eat anything but his bird seed so far…
yep thats why a pellet food diet is the way to go.
so would it be smart to buy the food that you say that good for a bugie in a grocerie store?
what about rice
haha u guys are so funny i want a bird ther so cute like my friend had a rabbit and she didn’t take care of it right
how bout pizza crust? I mean I know they have gizzards… but we always have pizza here at my house, i’m on a pizza diet.
once i fed my parakeets vegestable seed mixed with fruits and i saw its poop it turned green everyday and stopped when i changed in their normal food is this normal??
Omg I never knew that!!! I have 2 parakeets (and one decided to get on my finger for the first time today!!!!!) and have been using just the regular parakeet seed from QFC. I’ll try to make a new diet on these rules and see how it works!
do you think i could feed my parakeet flaxseed than?
You can google for organic bird food and order it.
My budgie is kinda weird , he is a picky eater, he only chooses to eat bird seeds, and doesn’t eat the vegetables or fruits
