if NO then how do you pet your vet bills and how much do they come up to? (routine check ups)? what about for emergencies?

yes, there is health ins, I know for dogs, not sure about cats, and I don’t have it but friends do and like it. I think they pay $11 a month. Recently took my dogs in for yearly shots, cost $125 a piece. Neighbors dog got hit my a car, had back leg amputated, cost $1200. Think insurance would have been helpful to them. There are stipulations for insurance, like dog has to have a period of 6 months of no health problems to be eligible. Call your vet, they can tell you, and give you phone # to call
There is such a thing as pet health insurance (see link below for various companies from a Google search.) I never personally bought it–it’s about $240 per year. If your pet has a serious accident or illness, then the insurance can help you get treatment you might not otherwise be able to afford. It’s something I’m seriously going to consider the next time I buy a dog or cat.
read small print .save your money..there is insurance on or against pretty well everything.
