hi, i wanted to ask if a CWD and a Red Eared Slider turtle (RES) could coexist in the same tank w/o having any territorial problems? if so what setup would best fit both of my pets.
note: recently got the RES
@piflan he’s looking to shed his skin soon, keep his viv high in humidity and make sure he’s always moist so as to help him shed properly.
@piflan also mine has started to turn more of a darker dark green, what does this mean?
he stopped jumping against the walls and what not. but now hes starting digging…while he’s doing this he sends repti bark everywhere in the tank getting in the water bowl, uprooting plants, and just sending the bark everywhere. any thoughts?
@Mocasta 1. You can buy a full grown cage for them ( 3ft high 3ft wide and about 15-17 inches deep) but you dont have to.. 2. You can feed them most kind of fish just make sure they havent got any parasites in them as that could make your CWD ill, i wouldnt feed them fish till there atleast 4 months old (and only then small fish) 3. Its has to bee around 85 – 90 faranhiet (spelling sux) in the day and aroung 75-80 at night. 4. you can use reptile carpet or wood chippings. 5. This makes it humid.
@piflan Thats nothing to be worried about friend, Mine used to do that alot as a baby , he used to always scratch at my viv and jump against it .. or kamakazi dive lol, just make sure you check his snout when he does this to make sure theres no breakage or anything… there pretty hardy creatures. The tanks going to be good length for between 8 months and a year depending oon how fast your CWK / GWD grows. hes just getting used the the vivarium give him a few days to settle. he should stop soon
@RhodesLives And if you have an all glass vivarium then its best to put a strip off back ground on the front to stop them from snout rubbing ,
@djtiestops3 if both dragons are males they may fight till the death when they get bigger.
@piflan Cover 3 sides of the tank with background,i also put a strip of background across the bottom front of the tank,it helps them feel more secure, check out my vids.
I got a cwd about 2 days ago. He’s been acting a little strange though, he been scratching at the aquarium sides and will jump up against them sometimes. The aquarium is about 33 in length, 12 in width, and 18 inches tall. Is he just getting used to his new environment he’s been placed in? Or is the tank not big enough? he’s probably 6 to 8 inches in length. Please respond I’m kinda worried about the little guy
i got some questions and hope you can anwser all 1. when their young is good to buy a full grown cage for them 2. what kind of fish do you meen like minnos or small normal fish 3. how hot does it have to be 3. what kind of trees and flooring 4. where can you buy them in MN and how much do they cost in MN 5. what do you meen by spraing them with water or some liquid. thats all i have to say
@78tpel check your temperatures it sounds like your giving her to much heat she needs a sloped heating hot on one side and cooler on the other
@PBandJacob Man, thats amazing! Do you know how big they get?
@TheStation2000 i just got my cwd and I think they make great pets. they do live 14 to15 years
Are these good pets? i dont know if i should get one….Is it true 15 years of life?

Any body wanna buy a baby Savannah monitor go to G e n e r a l e x o t i c s. c o m tell em Bernard sent you
wow wanted to get help on caring for a water dragon and i got 11 year olds fightin on the internet…who knew?
. But taud I have to disagree that having a reptile is cruel For not all reptiles are caught wildly. If you spend the extra buck and get captive bred. That lizard has no idea that it’s from a vast rainforest. I’m some ways I believe a house reptile is happier for if there are no predators, food guaranties, perfect temps, that very little stress. Without stress were all a bit happier aren’t we?
I’m with taud for the emotional side my dragon doesn’t love me he loves the food I bring. I say “cujo” open the cage and he comes to the bowl from where ever he was. He has learned words like a dog would come, his name, and for small amounts of time stay. Now these commands are all food oriented meaning he does them for food not that he has learned anything or feels any emotional attachment to me.
my water dragon died just yesterday and before getting him i did as much research as i could talking to my local pet store owner in the pet shop i bought him and now after watching this video i learnt you’re meant to have a heat lamp as wel as UV and heat mat:( i feel really bad that he died and it’s obviously my fault because i’m his owner.
@TheWaterdragon1 it just sounds like he’s pissed off haha. Mine would do that if I bothered him. Are you spraying him directly? that may be ticking him off a little.
thanx
@thewaterdragonman1 are you giving him the right food are you over handling him how big is he any ways is it the right enclosure do some research good luck hope you cwd gets better
