Have an avian vet picked out before you get your parakeet. Parakeets make great pets if you give them plenty of your time and attention. One parakeet will bond closer to you than two or more. Make sure your parakeet has a large enough cage, a well-balanced diet, and yearly avian vet exams to help it live a long, healthy life.
