What kinds of birds do parakeets get along with?

I have a really big cage and 2 beautiful parakeets already. I want to get another type of bird to be in the cage with the parakeets. Can you give me some breeds of birds that get along with them? (By the way my parakeets are taken out of their cage to fly in the house or do anything like for 2-3 hours a day)

Any hooked beaked birds would be fine as long as they are seed eaters. Stay away from Love Birds though because they are not so lovely with other birds. They like to bite feet and are territorial. Hope this helps

    Cockatiels can live with parakeets.

any bird of a similar size that is also a parrot species. Just make sure the bird is not much bigger or much smaller than the parakeets. And a bigger cage is always best when you are planning to mix species! I strongly wouldn’t reccomend mixing species though.

The cockatiels can get along well with parakeets in a big cage. But you should have only one male and one female in a single cage because if you put more, they will quarrel even to death.

Well Cockatiels can be with parakeets, but honestly it can be a big risk. Budgies are a little bigger than parakeets, but put them together and there’ll do just fine. Hope that helps.

Please don’t do that. Most types of birds get along with their own types. If you put a different kind in parakeets can be aggressive and hurt or kill the other type. Also they could decide to bond to the new bird and try to raise babies that are not genetically correct. Parakeets are small parrots so being in a big cage is the best thing for them. You could fill it with toys for them so they can play and not be bored. If you want different birds why not get another cage and get a different type. They you can enjoy both with no injuries or deaths. I have parakeets, lovebirds, parrotlets, tiels and lory parrots and all are cages in their own cages according to type but most are in their own cages. One bird to a cage unless they are a pair. I do breed tiels and parrotlets. So they are together as pairs.
